I love to take photos but was unaware of the risk involved when you take photos with your cell phone and post them online (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) Unless you go into the GPS settings and turn off the tracking option, the location of the photo you just took is visible to the public.

Happily ... after retirement 
Wow, this is amazing but not surprising. I was saying the same thing to one of my blog buddies — that I Google stores info about my usage of gmail and can tell me the last time I logged on, what computer I used, etc. I really don’t want that info public. Also discussed the same privacy and blogging with a friend yesterday. Too scary to contemplate. I’ll pull the covers back over my head now.

Thanks for commenting. I think what is so amazing is the amount of people who post photos from cell phones only to discover they are giving away information about their location they might never want shared. Personally, the default on a cell phone should be to NEVER disclose location unless otherwise checked. Just my opinion … Thanks again!

This might sound surprising, but even though I know this, I have no problem with it. I mean, privacy is really not a concern with me especially since nobody seems to notice me in school. I can post blogs from my cell phone, and you can see where I posted them on GPS.

Thanks for writing. I never used to think of this as an issue either until I saw these news clips and did some research. Understanding that this information is out there is one thing — however many people don’t realize they are giving away their location. I think it’s like when someone finds your wallet and inside is all your contact information. What happens next? Will they dismiss it or act on it?
